Air Defence and Air Operations Command


Based at Paris Cité de l’Air and Air Base 117 (15th district) since September 2007, the Air Defence and Air Operations Command (CDAOA) is the big operational command of the French Air Force.

Placed under the authority of the Prime Minister, it is permanently responsible for the air defence as well as for the planning and conduct of air operations under the authority of the Chief of Air Staff.

THE AIR DEFENCE INSIGNIA

Symbolism :

He gladiator is holding a net in his left hand, hence the designation of “retiarius”, in which a flight of birds is trapped. It symbolizes the surveillance and control mission over the French air space which is entrusted to the Air Defence command.

Brandishing his trident with his right hand, he is ready to combat any destructive force threatening to jeopardize the country or the values it cherishes.
