STRATEGY & ASSESSMENT (S&A)

The division is in charge of middle and long term planning both ahead and during the operation.

Before the operation starts it participates in the Joint Operation Planning Group (JOPG) under either National structures (Centre Permanent de Conduite des Opérations CPCO) or coalition structures. S&A division generates a tailored AOPG (Air Operations Planning Group) to produce the air campaign in coordination with the JOPG.

During the operation S&A continues with long range planning while monitoring the strategy process which is performed 96 to 72 hours in advance. Within this framework, it develops guidance, allocation of air assets and targeting feasibility to allow AIR PLANS to deal with any significant change in the situation. Meanwhile it prepares the COMJFAC’s intentions in terms of planning and targeting in accordance with Joint Coordination Order (JCO). S&A division is also in charge of the air operations assessment and produces the daily AIR ASSESSREP.
